Internet2 is contributing 10 Gbps of dedicated capacity on its nationwide network to the National Science Foundation's GENI (Global Environment for Network Innovations) project. GENI is envisioned as a national-scale laboratory for cutting-edge cyberinfrastructure. Internet2 already works with the network research community through efforts such as the Internet2 Observatory, the 100 x 100 Project, Planet Lab, and others.

Showcase Image perfSONAR is an infrastructure for network performance monitoring involving an international consortium of organizations.  Deployment of the perfSONAR architecture/tools is worldwide, including but not limited to ESnet, GEANT2, Internet2 and RNP.  Internet2 is pleased to be a participant in APAN 26: Sustainable Networking held in Queenstown, New Zealand 4-8 August, 2008.  This event will feature a half-day workshop designed to showcase perfSONAR. ...more
Showcase Image George Loftus is the executive director of OSHEAN, Inc., which serves Rhode Island's institutions of higher education and members in the health care and K-12 communities. He is also the chairman and president of the Northeast Research & Education Network. George serves as vice-chair of the Internet2 Architecture & Operations Advisory Council, is a member of the Strategic Planning Execution Committee, serves on EDUCAUSE’s Network Policy Council, and was the past chair of The Quilt.
